Bedbugs?? Bedbugs!! Gaaaaaaah!!!

I wonder if I will ever get used to Going Out to Dinner. Of course it's easy when you're with family or friends at an informal sort of place. But the dinner with professors, where I adopt the official Pleasant and Friendly demeanor, and Make Conversation, and pretend that I feel comfortable in Nice Clothes (no fidgeting!) My face is permanently engraved in its Interested Look, and I look carefully at what other people are eating to determine what sort of meal is Appropriate -- are we ordering appetizers? salad or soup? dessert? It's all too unnatural for me. Sure, I can be pleasant and friendly, but with lowercase letters, meaning that they're interspersed with some sarcasm, or opinions that are perhaps too strongly expressed. Meaning that the smile can disappear from my face sometimes, and that we can talk about things besides the present State of the University, or Travels to Rome, or Art Films. I do well enough in these situations, sure, but in the end I'm glad to get home and strip out of my artificial propriety as quickly as I change out of my dressy clothes. The formal, the expensive, the intellectual...I don't think I was meant for these.

Okay, everything should be new and shiny and functional except the permalinks. I do have an intention to fix those. Now if only intention would lead to action...

Free Indian food tonight, yay! And then Stargate. Yeeha!

So, I go for a couple months without posting and suddenly Blogger is all snazzy and different and blue. Not that I'm complaining. I like blue.

Comments on the redesign are of course welcome. I haven't really looked at it on any computers other than my own so far, so if anything looks funny let me know.

The archives are still sailboat-themed, I know. I'll fix that soon, and update them, so that you can find all 20 posts from the past year if you want to. Yeeha.

Now all I have to do is start posting again. Here's hoping.

I am aching again after time gone by too fast, never to be reclaimed. It's disconcerting, not being able to hang onto things. Memories aren't strong enough.

Seems to be a recurring theme, really...
